Same-day appointments. GDC-registered clinicians. Serving Blackpool for over 40 years.
If you are in dental pain, every hour matters. ARC Dental Surgery offers same-day emergency appointments at our practice on Lytham Road, Blackpool – no referral needed, new patients accepted.

An emergency dental appointment is a same-day or next-day appointment for a dental problem that cannot safely wait for a routine booking. At ARC Dental Surgery in Blackpool, we assess your situation, provide immediate pain relief where possible, and either resolve the problem in that visit or stabilise it and plan the definitive treatment.
Emergency appointments are not just for severe pain. A lost crown with a sharp edge, a broken denture before an important event, or a knocked-out tooth all qualify – the sooner you call, the more options we have.
We treat all common dental emergencies at our Blackpool practice, including:
When to go to A&E instead: If you have facial swelling that is affecting your ability to breathe or swallow, or a spreading infection tracking into the neck or throat, go to A&E or call 999 immediately. A&E cannot carry out dental treatment, but they can manage a life-threatening infection. For everything else, call us first – we can almost always see you faster than A&E and actually treat the cause. Read our full guide on when to go to A&E with a dental emergency.

Take ibuprofen as directed on the packaging – it reduces inflammation as well as blocking pain, making it more effective than paracetamol for most dental pain. Do not place aspirin directly against the gum; this causes a chemical burn and will not help.
Pick the tooth up by the white visible part only – never the root. Rinse briefly under cold water if dirty. Reinsert it into the socket if you can, or store it in milk or between your cheek and gum. Call us immediately – the chances of saving it drop significantly after 30 minutes.
Avoid chewing on that side. Dental temporary cement from a pharmacy (such as Dentemp) can cover a sensitive exposed tooth until your appointment. Do not use superglue.
Do not try to repair it yourself. Bring all the pieces with you to the appointment. We offer new dentures at the practice if a repair is not possible.

Emergency dental treatment at ARC Dental Surgery starts from £100, which covers your initial examination and assessment. Treatment costs beyond the examination – such as fillings, extractions, root canal treatment, or crown repair – are quoted separately and confirmed with you in writing before any work begins. You will always know the full cost before we proceed.
Book a Same-Day Appointment or call 01253 835010 to discuss costs before you come in.

Yes. Call 01253 835010 as early in the day as possible. We accept new patients for emergency appointments – you do not need to be registered with us first. New patients can register online before attending.
We use local anaesthetic for all procedures that would otherwise cause discomfort. If you are nervous, tell us when you call – our clinicians have specific experience with anxious patients. Find out more about our care for nervous patients.
For toothache, abscess, broken tooth, or a lost crown or filling – call a dentist. A&E cannot fill, extract, or repair teeth and you will typically wait longer for less treatment. The exception is facial swelling affecting your airway or a spreading infection into the neck – in those cases go to A&E or call 999 immediately.
Yes. You do not need to be an existing patient to be seen for an emergency. Call 01253 835010 and we will do our best to see you the same day.
